About
o Origin
In
recent years, governments worldwide including Thai government
have paid more attention on ‘competitiveness’. Competitiveness
is the quality of the environment for investment and for
increasing productivity in a climate of macroeconomic
stability and integration into the international economy.
This definition is still inadequate to encompass all the
areas it is attempted to cover. However, the productivity
-- the capacity to generate value whether at the micro
or aggregate level is rather more precise. In
May 2002, Thai government set up the National Competitiveness
Committee (NCC). The NCC deals with all the issues regarding
competitiveness seriously in order to improve the national
competitiveness position. In the meantime, the Fiscal
Policy Research Institute (FPRI) conducted the Thailand
Competitiveness Study Project. The results of the study
have been disseminated to the public on the Thailand’s
Competitiveness Website, presently operated by the FPRI.
The Website is intended to provide the most informative
and alive Thailand competitiveness position.
